A
Hoale Lot of Trouble
Adam Hoale owns a construction
company called Hoale Construction. When he finds an eye-opening surprise in the
walls of a house he’s flipping, and a libido flaring surprise standing on the
lawn, he's willing to do the right thing with the surprise in the wall while
entertaining lusty thoughts about the surprise on the lawn.
But as the world finds out what he
discovered, and his new boy toy seems to be keeping too many secrets to make a
relationship a reality, Adam soon realizes he may just get flipped himself if
he's not careful.

Dirk
Williams wasn’t classically handsome. He had beautiful, piercing green eyes, a
strong, almost too large nose and a cupid’s bow mouth that, on its own, would
probably have been considered too feminine, but somehow it worked with his
other features.
His
longish, mahogany colored hair was always tousled and his square chin was
perpetually covered in a dark stubble. He generally looked as if he’d just
rolled out of bed. It was his trademark look and he’d won the hearts of women
and gay men alike by the millions with it. It came across well on the big
screen.
It
wasn’t half bad in person either.
When
he smiled at Adam, a sexy dimple showed in each, bristly cheek. “Hey, Adam. You
look like hell.”
Walter
jumped up and gave Dirk’s elbow a tender kiss with his long, wet tongue. Dirk
scratched the big dog’s head. “Hey, boy. How are you?”
Adam
forced his knees to straighten and shrugged Maddy off his shoulder. He could
barely pretend he wasn’t dying from the inside as it was, without trying to
sustain her weight too. “Thanks, man. It’s always nice to see you, too.”
Dirk
just laughed, immune to Adam’s sarcasm as always. “Are you guys leaving?”
Maddy
and Adam shared a look. They were covered in sweat, their hair plastered to
their faces in dripping ribbons. They stank from several layers of sweat. Their
knees were wobbling from exhaustion, and they were headed out the door rather than in.
Dirk
just stood there, waiting for a response.
Adam’s
lips parted but he slammed them shut again. He knew if he said anything it
would be pure snark, and god help him, despite his anger at Dirk for how he’d
left things between them, he wanted to sell that monstrosity of a house to him.
So he chewed on his tongue and shook his head, starting past the other man.
“It
was nice seeing you, Dirk. Have a great workout.”
Dirk
grabbed his arm.
Despite
his exhaustion, Adam experienced the usual alarm signals when Dirk touched him.
Like tiny little electric shocks, Dirk’s warm, smooth fingers marked him with a
semi-permanent brand on his heart. It had always been the problem between them.
Adam was like a lust addict where Dirk was concerned. And Dirk was too wrapped
up in himself to reciprocate on anything but a superficial level.
“I’d
love some company.” The intense, green gaze found his and sent a message that
would be impossible to miss. He was interested in picking up where they’d left
off. At least sexually.
For
one brief, horrible moment, Adam was tempted. Fortunately for him, his
traitorous libido was buried under several waves of sweat and pain. “Not
tonight. Maybe another time.”
Adam
walked through the door. Maddy said a quick goodbye to Dirk and shuffled after
him. Walter bounded ahead to Adam’s truck.
Dirk
held the door open. “I’m gonna be in town for a while, Adam.”
Adam
stopped, turned. “Really?”
“Yeah.
Maybe we can have dinner together? Sometime soon?”
Adam
stared into the other man’s piercing green gaze and then inclined his head,
non-committal. “I’ll see ya around, Dirk.”
